Candy Turner Medical Expenses

This past week a beloved member of my extended family (Candy Turner) suffered a serious heart condition requiring emergency surgery. Candy has since been in the Cardiovascular ICU recovering from emergency lifesaving surgery/stroke and other medical complications. I’d like to help the family address the costs associated with Candy’s medical expenses and any other hardships the family will incur during the recovery process. Any and all donations no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.

 

Medical Specifics:

On Sunday February 25th, Candy experienced some chest/jaw pain, along with slurred speech. Her husband Mark rushed Candy to the ER. En route, she lost consciousness, and upon arrival at the ER began to gasp for air and lost her pulse. ER doctors determined she would need emergency surgery due to a retrograde dissection of her aorta. It was discovered that Candy’s aorta ruptured causing blood to spill into her body. This also resulted in the loss of necessary blood flow to her brain. CPR was performed for 6 minutes and she was quickly operated on to successfully repair her aorta. Due to the nature of the surgery itself and the fact that her vital organs went without oxygen for a lengthy amount of time, Candy suffered a stroke in addition to the heart complications. She still requires ventilation and will need to be in the ICU for an extended period of time as she recovers. Since the stroke and surgery, Candy has developed pneumonia, an ilieus, and has gone septic. Without a doubt recovery is going to be a long and complicated process for the entire family. However, Candy is incredibly strong and despite her medical challenges her recovery is trending in a positive direction.
