My name is Calago Hipps and I am a senior at Beloit College located in Beloit Wisconsin. I am a double major in media studies and performance as well as an active member of the Alpha Zeta chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Thank you for the second that you're taking out of your day to visit this page. I guess this is the part where I tell you a bunch of cool things about myself and my cause, in hopes that you'll read the whole bit and feel compelled to offer your support. As cliche and boring as that is, I hope that you do in fact real this whole bio of sorts and get an understanding of my trip and what I wish to accomplish. This fall I will be attending the University of Sutherland located in Sutherland England, where I will be studying film and media studies. I have been planning this study abroad semester with my advisor since I arrived at Beloit College and have clear goals outlined for this coming semetser.
My first goal is to sharpen the skills that I've gained during my time at Beloit and gain even more information to help me pursue my post graduation career goals in the broadcasting industry. I have been involved with varsity athletics for the last three years at Beloit and will be forgoing my senior year to study internationally and further my career prospects. Since this is my first time out of the country, and I will be in England for 6 months, I am asking for the support of friends, family, members and others who have helped my cause in furthering my educational endeavors.
I plan on utilizing all the tools that the University will have on hand in ensuring that this time abraod is a time of reflection and learning even during the times when those around me are preoccupied with other activities. I will be making a documentary of my experiences while abroad to chronicle my successes and challenges as well as bring together the skills I learn throughout the semester. In addition, my number one goal while I will be abroad is to study and that will not wane during the course of the semester because as my 3.4 cumulative GPA shows, I am dedicated to my studies and am fully aware of the opportunity this will present.
So, I thank you again for taking time to gain more information about my cause and for whatever you decide to give.You're donations will be used to help me in buy educational materials abroad as well as sustain myself while in Sutherland. This summer I had to make a choice to better my career and I took an unpaid internship in my field working for NBC26 in Green Bay Wisconsin. Since I chose the best career option I will need all the help I can get to ensure my semester abroad is a success. Anything counts and I can't express my gratitude enough!
