My Students
My students come from a Title I school where 92% qualify for free lunch. Most of them are first or second generation immigrants whose parents came to the United States searching for the American Dream.
This request is for our basketball team.
The students have worked hard to improve every year and I would like to reward them with a trip to Syracuse. Here they will see Syracuse University and meet the Westhill community.
This year we will have the opportunity to play two games-one against the Westhill Warriors and another against a local powerhouse, Christian Brothers Academy, who was kind enough to extend the invitation to our team.
In addition I would like to provide the team with an opportunity to play in a team basketball camp at Fordham University and in a summer league at Inwood Park. Both of these give our students the opportunity to improve as people, basketball players and have a better understanding of the world around them.
