CANstruction for CT Food Bank

Donation protected
Connecticut Experiential Learning Center (CELC) Middle School of Branford is participating in CANstruction, a unique charity that started in 1992 and so far has donated 25 million pounds of food to Food Banks across America.

CANstruction teams students with architects to construct large, complex structures completely out of food cans.  CELC is working with HH Purdy Architects of Branford, Connecticut to design and construct a “cansculpture”, which is up to 6’ x 6’ x 10’ in dimension. All of the structures from schools throughout Connecticut will be on display at an event held at the Durham Fairgrounds during the first week of May 2015.  After this event, tens of thousands of food cans are then donated to the Connecticut Food Bank.

Our goal is to have our sculpture consist of 5,000 cans (which will have a cost of approximately $4,000). We respectfully request a donation of $250 – $500 if you are acting as a company or $50 if you are acting as an individual.  However, your generosity at any amount will be greatly appreciated as we try to reach our goal. All sponsors will be listed on the sign posted at our display.

Donations are tax deductible and can be made through Go Fund Me or via check payable to the CT Experiential Learning Center and then mailed to CELC, 28 School Street, Branford, CT 06405.

We thank you for making it possible for CELC’s successful participation in a unique project that brings food to those who really need it.

 Gratefully,
Students of CELC
