Mel Needs A Kidney

Hello My Name is Melissa.

First and foremost, I'd like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to click and read this! I know we are all extremely busy and I'm truly grateful for your time! I'll make this brief, I promise! :-)

Okay, so here it goes. The harsh reality is, that I'm in Stage 5 kidney failure. At age 16  I was diagnosed with Rapidly Progressive Glomerulonephritis and within days of this diagnosis I was put on hemodialysis. My first treatment was on my 17th birthday and I've had thousands of dialysis treatments since. Medical treatments are like that are not cheap! In fact they are about $4,000 per treatment so as you can imagine I unfortunately racked up quite a bit of medical debt back then.

Anyway, during the 9 years that followed I was on a dialysis machine as a form of life support 4 hours a day and 3 days per week! As a young teenager this was really hard emotionally and really depressing at times. Finally in 2005, after 9 years of waiting, I finally found a match for a kidney. The kidney transplant saved my life, but unfortunately that very kidney is now rejecting. That is why I started this Go Fund Me page. I'm currently asking for your help so I can be put on the waiting list for a new kidney transplant. The procedure is very expensive and in order to be put on the list I must show that I have the money for the anti-rejection medication and medical copayments after the surgery.  The amount needed to be added to the list is approximately $13,000 can you imagine being told you needed $13,000 to save your life?! How many of us actually have that kind of money put away for a rainy day or, you know...a kidney or something.  Life deals us all different hands, and this is the hand I've been dealt so I'm trying to make the best of it.

On a side note, as of now my only source of income is disability because I'm required to wear an IV 12 hours a day due to iron overload. This is from the bi-weekly blood transfusions stemming from transplant complications and the severe anemia I've developed from immune suppression medicines.

It took a lot of courage to ask for your help, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Thank you so much and many blessings to you for taking the time to read my story!♡
I'm so grateful for all your help! Please donate and share if you feel compelled to lend a helping hand!

Love & Blessings,
Melissa
