Building Seattle Men

Donation protected

We are happy to invite you to participate in a remarkable event -- Building Seattle Men.

For twelve years, the ministries Teleios, Emerald City Bible Fellowship / Urban Impact and Divine Alternatives for Dads have together been leading trips of men to build in the outskirts of Tijuana. The work of our hands is to build homes for families in need there. This work brings us together around a cause that is larger than ourselves and works to till the soil for the other work done there -- the work in our hearts.

These groups range from those recently out of prison to corporate CEO's, from octogenarians to college kids, with men from every race and neighborhood in and around Seattle. The Lord God has used all we have in common to minimize what divides us. It is our experience that this work has been used to change the City. These men live, work and worship in the same region, but might otherwise never meet. Through this simple trip, bonds of friendship and fellowship have been created -- which has led to significant cross-cultural involvement here at home. Board participation, ministry involvement, church rebuilding and mentorships have been the formal outcome, and informally these men are friends walking out their lives and faith together in a way that they would not have without serving together in Tijauna. In fact, you may have heard some of the fruit of this trip presented at the last two King County Prayer Breakfasts.

In the past, we have funded these trips by personal donation and grants. This year, we have a matching grant that is challenging us to raise money from the larger community so the trip can both grow and become sustainable. In advance of this year's October trip, we are working to raise $5,500 to pay for men who want to go, but cannot afford to. We also ask that you participate by praying for the trip, the men getting ready to go, and for the finances to be supplied.

Thanks for considering this -- organizers Harvey Drake, Harold Lincoln, Art Kopicky, Marvin Charles, Shawn Petree and Eric Stelter
