Funds for Two Miracle Babies

Donation protected
My name is Jessi Goodsell, big sister to Megan Woelfel and sister-in-law to the late Michael Woelfel.

Sunday evening April 19th, 2020, Mike, 37 years of age, was killed in a motorcycle accident leaving my baby sister to care for twin boys two weeks from turning a year old.

While these two boys may never know their dad, we are asking for donations to help give them a future that he worked so hard for - was fighting for - before his death.

The unfortunate reality is Mike did not have life insurance at the time of his passing.   After spending every ounce of energy and every penny to bring their miracle babies home, the couple was faced with hard financial choices.  Mike worked 70 hours each week to begin tackling the debt and build a future for his family.  However, Mike's unfortunate passing has left a significant hole, financially, for his two 11-month-old sons, Beau and Rhett, and stay-at-home mom/wife Meg.

The funds raised from the campaign will go to paying off the direct/indirect medical expenses in bringing Beau and Rhett into this world, health insurance for the family, fixed living expenses and a small financial cushion for unknowns in the future.

Given the current COVID-19 situation, we are not able to have a funeral to honor Mikes life. He will be cremated and a celebration of life will happen at a later date.

Here is their IVF story....
Mike and Meg knew they wanted a large family from the moment they married on May 6th, 2011. Eight and half years of trying, 12 rounds of IUI's they thought that dream was gone. Adoption was too expensive and at the time IVF felt that way too. Mike and Meg were determined to find a solution. Mike worked two jobs while Meg continued her career as a mortgage broker.

Then a breakthrough happened...our sister, Kara Goodsell, an OBGYN nurse, told Meg and Mike about a clinic in upstate New York that provided more affordable IVF treatments compared to those offered in Nebraska. While the cost was still enormous, it was one they felt they could manage. They loaded their car and took the 20+ hour drive to begin the process.

Three eggs were extracted and frozen for when Meg was ready for transfer. The time came, they loaded the car again and made the trip to have the first embryo transplanted. Unfortunately the baby was lost after 6 weeks.

Two eggs remained and no money was left for any further extractions so they made the decision to implant both and pray for the best. Nine months later, by the grace of God, on May 7th, 2019 Beau Michael and Rhett Thomas were born. These boys were the most important part of Michael's life.

It took eight years, through endless personal and financial sacrifice to bring these amazing boys home.

Megan has asked me to be the executor of the account to assist in paying off all expenses and then withdrawing any remaining funds to be delivered to her.  I will be withdrawing the funds and placing them in a newly created account in my name labeled "Go Fund Me". All of Megan's current medical bills from IVF treatments to delivery will be redirected to me to for payment. Once all medical expenses have been paid, any remaining balance will be  divided and transferred by me to the following accounts 1. Megan's personal account for cost of living expenses while she gets back on her feet and finds employment and 2. Saving accounts for Beau and Rhett.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to read their story and hear their message. Myself and Mike and Meg's entire family are so grateful for your support in helping honor Mike by giving his boys the life they deserve.

If you are not able to provide funds at this time we understand...our ask is that you share our story to others that are willing and able to do so.

Much love and peace to all of you during this very difficult time.
