Brittany to Malawi

Dearest Family and Friends,

I am so grateful first of all that you are reading this letter. I know on social media we can all keep up pretty easily with each other, but just in case you didn't know I will catch you up on some things! I have been in Fayetteville, Arkansas for almost 2 years now, and that just seems crazy! Upon moving, things were a tad less than great, but have now seemed to fall into place. When I first moved, I was a little concerned and unsure as to what the Lord's plan was for me here, and if moving here was actually a part of His plan. He quickly showed me that it was. I have been attending Cross Church since I have been here and I absolutely love it. This place is filled with amazing people who really just shine with the light of the Lord. I am blessed beyond words to have visited that first Sunday in October, and to now have wonderful "family" in Arkansas. An unforgettable and life altering opportunity to go to Malawi, Africa, has presented itself to me, but let me back up a little.

A few of you know about a trip I was trying to take about a year ago to Uganda, Africa. To say I was excited is an understatement; I was so looking forward to spending time with my cousin and his family. God had other plans though, and I was not able to make the trip due to the health of my cousin’s family at the time. I am still hopeful to be in Uganda sometime next year!

Cross Church has a mission of reaching Northwest Arkansas and the World for Jesus Christ, which is the reason you are reading this.  This life changing journey to the “Heart of Africa” will involve ongoing work at Esther’s House orphanage through ministering to the widows and orphans, village evangelism, church planting, discipleship and VBS, plus other ministry opportunities such as medical clinics and construction projects. My church is taking a small team to Malawi September 7th-19th, and I am very excited to be a part of this journey. This trip allows me, to assist in meeting the spiritual needs of a community that is in desperate need of Him! It really is such a humbling idea that little ol' me could make such a big difference in lives of others. I feel like I need to use this amazing chance to share His love for these people, right along side of my church. My close family has already been teasing me about not coming home. My heart is just to make a positive difference in people’s lives, and help spread the gospel. I just want to be what God wants me to be, and go where He wants me to go... if it's a yearly trip, a summer trip, no trip-- I just want to be willing.

More than anything, I would value your prayers for me and for the lives that will be touched through our team by Him. Please pray for the people of Malawi that Esther’s House has already been working with, to continue to open their eyes and their hearts to the truth of His word. I believe that God answers prayers, and I am asking you to pray for safety, good health, smooth travel, and financial support. Just knowing you are praying for me will give me so much strength and peace as I go to this unfamiliar place.
Beyond your prayers, if you are led to financially join me in reaching these beautiful people, I would be eternally grateful. This past year I have shared with a few of you about this trip, but I haven't really mentioned the financial aspect because I know God is in full control. Through a very special person who passed away last year, I have the first $1,000. When I was planning to travel last year I was able to get the remaining for that trip. Unfortunately this Malawi trip is double what the cost was for Uganda. I am 100% responsible for the costs of this journey that God has really touched my heart about and I would greatly appreciate any level of your support you are led to give. I am relying on Him to provide the remaining $2,500 by August 29, 2014.

I will be keeping you informed throughout this process as the specifics of this trip progress, if you would like.

Thank you so much for taking time to read this, seriously. This letter is NOT meant to come off as me begging for money, and I hope you know that. It's to simply inform you. If you feel led to contribute THANK YOU!!!! If you do not, then please commit to pray for the needs listed above! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or message me!
