Britt is Going Back to School

(Donation Deadline- October 8th)

My name is Brittani and I am a certified English teacher. I've been blessed with  amazing opportunities to teach and travel abroad. I have students (aka my sour-patch kids) in Honduras and Myanmar. (11.3 also the best homeroom at Myanmar International School)

After completing my two-year contract in Myanmar, I intended to move to Hong Kong.  But instead of moving, I felt led to return back to the U.S. To our surprise, my husband and I discovered we were pregnant. I was able to snag a summer teaching job, which also transitioned into teaching for the following academic year.

All seemed to be working itself out until we ran into pregnancy complications and I had to make a difficult decision to quit my job for the safety of my unborn child. Unfortunately, we lost our son the following month, October 18, 2017. This grief journey has been a difficult one but due to the support of my family, friends and faith, I am surviving this.

I truly enjoy working with young people, but feel I am ready to transition out of the classroom and take on more of an advisory role. I've always wanted to work at the university level and have applied to numerous positions to no avail. I joked with a relative that if my last interview didn't pan out, I would apply to graduate school. That same day I came across Goucher College's Higher Education Administration Policy program, which starts October 22nd (four days after my son's 1st birthday).

Immediately as I began to apply I thought of the cost of the program. Would I have enough? Could we afford all of this on one salary? I did not want to allow fear or worry to dictate the course of my life and so I decided to apply with faith that God would make a way for me.

Today I received my  admissions letter and I am excited to announce I've been  admitted into the program.  Before I start selling off all of my things to afford the program deposit, books and other essentials, one of my amazing friends recommended I start a campaign. The $800 will be used towards my program deposit, books and towards saving for a new computer (my macbook is 10 years old).

I appreciate you taking the time to read my story and if you feel led to donate no amount is too big or too small. Sharing this post is also encouraged.

Thank you + you are greatly appreciated!
