First, if you are taking the time to read this thank you. Truly! A little over two years ago I was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and neurocardiogenic syncope, which makes it hard for me to walk or stand more than 10-15 minutes at a time without passing out or experiencing an episode of pre syncope or an increase in heart rate usually reaching  the 190s-200s. It also causes a great deal of other symptoms and comorbidities that leave me wheelchair bound. In the last year alone I have also beeen diagnosed with diabetes insipidus, which is another rare illness that makes it impossible for my body to retain any fluid I drink orally. For me this means It is crucial that I use my central line (the little purple thing in my chest) everyday for IV fluids and vitamins.  I also struggle with severe orthostatic hypertension, occipital neuralgia, chronic migraines, endometriosis and an unidentifiable liver tumor. These conditions leave me in severe chronic pain almost everyday. Most recently I was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia which will require monthly iron infusions and two pulmonary emboli, which are due to an autoimmune disorder, antiphospholipid syndrome that cause chronic clots in the body. Due to this autoimmune disorder I will be on blood thinners the rest of my life which makes the passing out increasingly dangerous. I am now extremely high risk for a brain bleed with any fall I take. I am incredibly blessed to have a fantastic fiancé and family who love and support me in everything I do. Unfortunately medical bills and expenses are adding up quickly and with me being out of work we are unable to keep up with the bills and now we have heard the great news that I may be getting a service dog placed with me soon!! Since being diagnosed two years ago I applied for a service dog to help mitigate some of my disabilities, when I first applied I knew it would be a two to four year wait, but the time is finally here!! My phone interview was today and the process has officially started! New Horizons Service Dogs is an organization pairing trained service dogs with the disabled who need help with things like mobility and wheelchair assistance. Being paired with a service dog would change my life, some tasks that would be trained would be things like medicine retrieval, mobility help, wheelchair assistance, opening and closing doors, picking up dropped items, turning on/off lights and hopefully one day alerting to my changes in heart rate and blood pressure. One of the most important tasks my dog would help with is alerting someone when I faint. My service dog would be trained to call 911 and lick me until I am conscious again. Unfortunately the training that goes into this is very expensive and we just can not do it on our own anymore so we are asking for your help. Any donation is appreciated and every share is just as appreciated! Thank you so very much for taking the time to read this!
