Medical Expenses & Healing

Dealing with one rare disease in a lifetime can be hectic enough, recovering from two rare diseases in five years can be overwhelming.

Brian Patera was diagnosed in 2008 with Lyme Disease.  With over $35,000 in medical expenses that were denied by BCBS, Brian and his family moved to Omaha to be closer to family and downsize.

In February 2014, Brian was set back again after being diagnosed with a rare form of Neuroendocrin Carcinoid Cancer.  Luckily, his prognosis is good with surgeons confirming that, with two radical surgeries, they can remove 100% of the cancer from his GI system, Colon and Liver with no need for any chemo or radiation.

Although Brian and his wife have been making progress in paying off his Lyme Disease expenses, this new setback has caused additional stress with mounting medical bills in addition to having to take unpaid time off work.

Brian, Anige and the kids greatly appreciate any assistance you can offer to help offset these expenses while Brian continues to prepare for his second surgery in September.
