CLV Boys & Girls Club Essay Contest

Students with Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland have been invited to write an essay on one of the articles from the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights as advice to President Donald J. Trump for 2018. In their essay students are asked to discuss what they think the article they chose means, why she or he chose the article, and how it will make the world better if the President made it a goal for his 2nd year in office.
The essay contest will help students learn about human rights, encourage students to express their voice and their opinions, and provide a forum for students to discuss ideas about the world we share.
Essay contest winners will be published in the Cleveland Plain Dealer and win a cash prize.
One outstanding essay in each of the following categories wins $500
7 & 8th Grade
9 & 10th Grade
11 & 12th Grade
The club sponsoring the student with one of the winning essays will receive a donation equal to the student prize.
Winners will be announced on December 9th at the Cleveland Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Any funds raised exceeding contest needs will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland for their general fund.
Your donations are needed by December 1st, so they can be distributed to students and clubs on December 9th.

About me: I am a doctoral candidate studying ethical creative leadership as it relates to unarmed civlian peacekeeping. This essay contest is a project for a human rights & policy class at Union Institute and University. Union is founded on ideals of social justice , and all doctoral students are encouraged to support these shared ideals through involvement in her or his own community, which is the spirit of this essay contest.
