Hello, my name is Jill. My ten year old son Narayan and I are passionate about the Flamenco Arts! The power, community and confidence inspired by Flamenco's traditional dance form and music are unparalleled. It is raw, lively and inviting -- a true expression of human spirit! We invite you to donate here towards our coming year of Flamenco school fees and costs.
Narayan began his study of Flamenco dance in 2017 at the Flamenco Institute of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was enjoying it so much, that he requested to attend class every day, but the venue only offered a couple of weekly classes at his level. With that dream in mind, I took him to study in Spain last winter. He studied three hours daily for two months (whilst also studying Spanish) and still wanted more! He discovered a passion for the high-level physical coordination and skill that Flamenco demands. His teachers nick-named him "Boots of Fire" (Botas del Fuego) for fast footwork in his red Flamenco boots and lovingly encouraged him to continue study because he learned techniques like a sponge and improved his form quickly.
While we were in Spain I fell in love with Flamenco music. And having studied and performed music for 7 years of my life, I was excited to take lessons in "Cante," traditional Flamenco vocal lessons. It was heaven to dive back into the world of singing --- my greatest worldly joy! Those deeply moving Arabic roots of Flamenco, combined with the Spanish language are honest and vibrant, awakening the gypsy heart. Cante has inspired me to return to an artistic study at age 44, joining my son in his studies, while filling our souls with original gypsy culture and tradition in Spain.
We invite you to join our community of support by making donations towards our cause and sharing our campaign with your friends, social networks and those whom would take interest in our goal.
No matter how big or small the donation, ALL are appreciated and infuse our campaign with energy!
All donations go towards our first year of Flamenco school fees, airfare and rent.
We've begun our local fundraising efforts in three ways: Narayan runs a carnival game at local fairs, selling dream catchers handmade by Narayan (we are catching a dream!) and I give ayurvedic massage sessions.
Your support towards our Son-Mother endeavor will mean the world to us! We express our heartfelt greatfulness! Olé!
All who donate can opt-in to receive our weekly journal, photos and videos while we are studying.
All who donate $50 and above will receive a hand-made dream catcher from Narayan.
