Blessings for Brooklyn
Meet Brooklyn Ann Bridges. She is the daughter of Brooke and Chad Bridges, and she is Brayden's little sister. Brooklyn started experiencing tummy trouble shortly after birth. Doctors soon realized that the terrible pain, discomfort and bleeding in her tummy was caused by a severe allergy to milk and possibly even gluten. Her parents were told that Brooklyn was not just allergic to casein, the protein found in milk derived from animals, but that she is allergic to all milk; including the kind from plants and nuts. A baby cannot even have breast milk with this kind of allergy. Therefore, the only thing Brooklyn can eat or drink is a formula called Neocate. Neocate is a nutritionally complete amino acid-based formula for babies and kids with a milk protein allergy, multiple food protein allergies and other food protein allergy related GI conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and eosinophilic esophagitis (EE). It costs about $150.00 a can. Insurance does not cover Neocate, and one can lasts Brooklyn about 1 week; at least for now anyway. As Brooklyn grows, she will eat more.
Brooke and Chad are encouraged by the fact that if need-be, her condition could very possibly be helped by surgery. They also realize this add more financial strain and medical bills to what has already been incurred.
Here's how you can help. Chad and Brooke attend a Sunday school class at Chapin United Methodist Church called Crazy Love. As a way of raising money to help Chad and Brooke afford the medical care their baby girl needs, we members of the Crazy Love class have created this page for Brooklyn. We do so for the glory of God from whom all blessings flow.
