Launching Birthright Africa

Donativo protegido

The time has finally come to launch Birthright Africa!! And I cannot think of a better time than now as I look to celebrate my 35th birthday this Fall.

The mission of Birthright Africa is to provide opportunities for African American youth and young adults ages 14-30 to explore the history, contributions, and culture of historic and present day innovators of African descent from around the world and to travel to select African nations. Through access to educational programs focused on hands-on cultural and knowledge exchange, our vision is to foster an understanding of self, develop confidence and inspire a thirst for study, knowledge, and innovation as well as a continued connectivity to the continent. Conversely, the affiliated nations will locally benefit from the cultural and knowledge exchange.

We believe it is a human's birthright to know one's history, one's ancestry, one's family, one's story, and one's self. By discovering roots and uncovering greatness, our vision is for African American youth and young adults to fulfill their highest potential in college, career, and life pursuits.

From now until October 15th, we are seeking donations to help launch our program. Please join us in making these transformative educational and cultural journeys a reality.

A Note From the Founder:
I am a Sudanese-American education strategist* and MBA who has been dreaming about launching Birthright Africa for a little over 10 years now. I am inspired by the work of my hero, Carter G. Woodson, the second African-American to receive a PhD from Harvard University (after W.E.B. Du Bois). In 1915, Dr. Woodson founded the Association for African American Life and History (ASALH), the organization which launched what has become Black History Month in 1926. Despite this major milestone, the K-12 educational system often lacks the time and resources to cover the depth of not only the struggle but also the vast contributions of countless people of African descent throughout the US and Globally. Upon learning of Dr. Woodson's legacy, I decided to follow in his footsteps and now, nearly 100 years later, I hope to inspire others to follow their legacies of greatness and competence.

Be a part of history in the making! All of your support, forwards, likes and donations mean so much. All donors from now until OCTOBER 15 - My Birthday - will be recognized as a "Founding Donor"

I truly thank you for your support and contribution!
With love,
Walla
