For Scholarships at CCP
Binnie Birstein was a painter, printmaker, teacher and active member of the Center for Contemporary Printmaking (CCP) for many years. It was Binnie's wish to continue to support working artists at CCP, which is the goal of this fund drive. She loved the excitement of the Monothon , pulling prints and working with the creative team of artists and master printers.
Known for her energetic paintings and prints, Binnie was always generous, with a quick wit, warm smile and enthusiasm. She spent decades sharing her knowledge, supporting and encouraging others.
Binnie maintained her art studio at Firing Circuits in Norwalk, CT. She showed her artwork nationally and for many years was a regular presenter and teacher at the International Encaustic Conference in Provincetown.
In the 70's, fresh out of grad school, she was an art teacher at the East Rochester (NY) High School. During her time there, she taught a variety of art-related techniques and subjects. She was a nurturing and genuine teacher and person, loved by many students.
After relocating to Connecticut to marry and raise a family, Binnie continued to develop her artwork and community. She touched many lives.
Sadly, Binnie passed away from pancreatic cancer on May 9, 2018. She will be sorely missed.
In conjunction with this fundraiser, a small team of artists will work with the Center for Contemporary Printmaking to support artists with scholarships for classes. We will also work with CCP to pay it forward by creating prizes and cash awards for artists who exhibit at CCP.
Please support this fund, for the love of Binnie!
Your contribution is fully tax deductible.
We will post regular updates.
