A Benefit for Bliss is being put on for a wonderful, amazing, inspiring woman, Wendy Bliss Snipes, who is having to fight for her life against the terrible disease of Cancer. Wendy is a mother of a beautiful 3 year old daughter, and a loving and caring wife. Her friends would tell you that she is a light in their lives when they are around her, and I can tell you as her husband, she makes every day better with her energy and spirit. Unfortunately, she is in for quite a battle in order to regain her health.

This particular type of cancer is called Periperal T-Cell Lymphoma, and is extremely rare. Wendy was first diagnosed with PTCL in May of 2011 and underwent 6 months of Chemotherapy from June 2011 through December 2011. She was found to be in remission in February of 2012, however, this deadly disease has reared its head again.

Prior to her last bout with Cancer, Wendy had been in remission from Hodgkin's lymphoma for over 6 years. She was originally diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2001, and underwent Chemptherapy and Radiation treatment to reach remission. However, it resurfaced a couple of years later, and eventually Wendy had to have an Autologous Stem Cell Transplant in 2005.

So, if you are counting, that makes this battle her 4th fight with cancer. She is a young, lively, fiery and passionate woman, and to have to face this disease for a forth time is devastating. To make matters worse, she is in for an extremely hard regimine of Chemotherapy, which will be followed by a Allogeneic Stem Cell transplant which will take place in Seattle. She will be undergoing in-patient Chemotherapy starting Monday, May 14th and will be in the hospital for 3-5 days to receive her treatment. She will do this every three weeks until they have found a Stem Cell Donor. At that point, she will transfer to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to undergo the infustion of the donor stem cells. Needless to say, this is an extrememly long and painstaking process, and Wendy will have to be living in Seattle near the SCCA for a minimum of 4 months.

With an extended stay in Seattle inevitable, I have decided to take on a fundraising effort in order to help pay for the many expenses we expect to face over the next few months. From plane tickets to and from Seattle for Wendy, Avarie (our daughter) and myself, to rental cars, housing costs, and not to mention certain aspects of the treatment, the expenses could very well be incredibly large.

Thus, the Benefit for Bliss.
