On September 9th 2017 Bekki went to work, with only being 1 day away from going on a weekend getaway in Bayfield, WI with my dad. While at work she started having severe cramping in her stomach and decided to have it checked out before they left the next day. What she thought would be a quick and easy visit turned into a 3 day stay in the hospital, followed by major emergency surgery. Bekki had a blockage in her intestines that caused her intestines to rip through the abdominal wall and spill out toxic poison into her abdominal cavity. She soon became septic and her condition turned near fatal. On top of a few cardiac scares, Bekki pulled through the surgery, but was left with other issues that needed to be addressed.
After a grueling 2 weeks Bekki was able to go to a rehab facility to help with her recovery. When she was about a day away from getting to go home to continue her recovery she had told the doctors she was feeling funny. Later that day she collapsed in her room and was rushed to the hospital. She told the EMT's she was scared she was having a stroke, and expressed this to her doctor on arrival as well. The emergency room somehow missed the fact that she was indeed having a Ischemic Stroke and sent her back to rehab, only to have to be brought back to the ER shortly after.
Bekki thankfully had a miraculous recovery from the stroke, but this April she will need to undergo another major surgery to try and repair the existing damage.
Currently she only has part a part time job with nothing else coming in. Her savings have been depleted. She is currently struggling to pay basic bills, and is expecting some pretty hefty medical bills in the future. She is a proud woman and doing this is very hard for her, so at this point she is feeling desperate. She knows many of you don't have much and are just getting by yourselves so please do not contribute anything you can't afford. Bekki is working very hard to make a full recovery and wants to be able to pay this forward someday! Thank you so much from Bekki, Jesse and the rest of our family!
