Update 2/26: The support has been enormous!! Thank you so much! The updated photo, of the new Base Camp has been added! We are still needing to raise funds because we ended up needing more than one barn. We also run off generators and propane which we really appreciate the financial assistance so that we can continue to operate daily. We are so very thankful for each and every person who has helped, and continues to help, the animals get HOME!! There are so many wonderful hearted people who have contributed in many ways! Thank you to every person who sacrifices their time and/or resources to help. We are so excited to have our new location nearly up and running again!

Good morning, friends and neighbors!! Are you ready for a fun and exciting challenge?!?!?!? Today, 1/22/19, we will be starting our 7 day challenge to raise $5,000!!! Can we do it???? Yes, we can!!!! Please help us out by sharing this challenge, and if you're able to help us, we are wanting to continue to do amazing things, in Paradise, and Magalia!!

We desperately need this unit, so that we can continue to house kitties, who have survived Camp Fire, while we are looking for their families. We are currently operating out of the Base Camp, set up on Pentz Road. This location is being run out of Tracy Lee James' home. Now that we are two and a half months post-fire, we need move Base Camp so that she can start trying to regain some sort of normalcy back to her life. Tracy will always be the reason any of this was ever possible and will continue to be just as involved!! We are very appreciative of her generosity, commitment, and leadership.

Friends of Camp Fire Cats came together November 8, 2018, as a result of the Camp Fire. We all knew we needed to spring into action....and had some prior disaster experience or experience working previous fires. A team was formed when several people came together to help, in every way, to evacuate the animals. We created a make shift triage location to be able to quickly triage animals, as they came off the hill. If we knew their people, and the animal wasn't injured to the point of needing emergency aid, we would hold the animals at triage or transport them to their people. If we didn't know who their people were, we took them to Chico Airport or Butte County Fairgrounds. We evacuated hundreds of animals, to get them home, or to safety. We did experience some road blocks along the way and about 3 weeks in, we realized that the focus had adjusted.

It was about this time (12/29), when the need to trap the remaining kitties, became the primary goal, if we were going to be able to continue to help the Camp Fire survivors. This is when Base Camp was born!! We began revisiting the rescue requests, to get detailed information, because we needed to try and trap the kitties. We quickly learned that when we set a trap, on the kitties property, we were catching different cats. This means that we need to foster these kitties, while we look for their people. We have had 248 cats come thru the doors of Base camp. Of these, 47 got reunited with their families. Many of these kitties were transferred to animal shelters where their families are looked for.  This is what we need a new location to be able to continue to get these kitties home! We have been completely committed to helping these animals, since the day the fire erupted.

We sincerely thank you for reading our story. Please pass it on to your friends!! We hope that you will help us out, however you're able to!! This is a BOLD challenge, but we know we can do it!!! If giving your time is better, our volunteer and foster applications can be found on our website below. We need as much help, as possible, to help get kitties off the hill and home, as soon as possible.  Also, if you are still missing a cat, and would like help trying to trap him/her, our trapping request form is on our website, as well. Thank you so much!! Butte County friends and neighbors, we love y'all, and together, anything is possible!! Also, a big huge thank you, to fellow rescue groups, who have been supporting our efforts, since day one!! So many wonderful people have been committed and we really appreciate the phenomenal team work that everyone has shared in!!Together, we can move mountains!!

Let's do this!!!!
