An Autistic Needs a Home and Place of Ministry

Donation protected

It's been approximately four weeks since the last donation was received, during which time circumstances surrounding my current living situation have deteriorated even further--essentially forcing a move within the next two weeks.  The donations which have been received are quite significant, but obviously still far short of the funds required to act in the manner previously envisioned.

It would seem that changes in strategy and projected timeline are necessary.  I am by no means giving up on the goal of having a small, modest, efficient, and economical home which will double as an interfaith spiritual center, but it seems that an alternative path to that goal needs to be charted.  Additionally, the friend who has been overseeing the account that holds the funds raised thus far, is no longer willing to continue doing so.  After speaking with two persons who made $100 donations, the understanding that they both conveyed is that it would still be consistent with the goal of establishing a better home for myself and my dogs, if we were to use the funds collected thus far, for moving expenses to relocate to a better Section 8 program apartment in Trinidad, Colorado, where I lived a couple of years ago.

Specifically because of the considerations just listed, I am therefore deciding to close this fundraising activity at midnight on Saturday and create a new one within the coming year that will once again be associated with the goal of having a small, modest, efficient, and economical home which will double as an interfaith spiritual center, but which will hopefully also be tied to "an irrevocable trust" designated to be used exclusively for expenses related to establishing and maintaining the home just described.  As such, it would not negatively impact any other assistance funds which I currently receive and it would allow the fundraising effort to be one of exceptional integrity.  I welcome everyone's comments and questions related to keeping the original goal alive, because the manifestation of the goal will of course evolve and shift in various ways, as it comes into being.

I have not been able to decide, however, whether an additional possibility should be considered.  That one is to first confirm parameters that are acceptable to all relevant government entities, of having my 501(c)3 religious non-profit organization entitled God Space Sanctuary (GSS) purchase a home and property and designate me as a live-in care-taker.  A significant advantage of this alternative, would be that all donations would be tax-deductible, but the times when I have presented this incentive in the past, it has not inspired any significant amount of donations.  The process of determining how to integrate my occupancy with that of GSS would most likely also require consulting with an attorney, which could prove somewhat expensive.  I have already attempted to find an attorney willing to provide this legal guidance pro bono (that is, for free), but have been completely unsuccessful in locating any such attorney.

Again, I encourage open dialogue about these actions and possibilities, because the wisdom of a community is always greater than the wisdom of any single individual and I am striving to argue the generosity of every donor and donation made thus far.

May one and all and everything, blessed and loved ever be.
