Thieves Victimize Phx Vets&Artists

Donation protected
Thieves smashed through the fence at Historical American Legion Post #1 in the early morning hours of July 22, causing more than $5000 in damages to the Legion's fence and escaping with more than $4000 in artwork from a small, community gallery.

We are raising funds to repair the damages to the fence and reimburse the artists for their losses.

Insurance doesn't cover the damages, nor does it cover the cost of the stolen artwork.

The stolen art is the work of local artisans, struggling to earn a living, including Emmett Graham, a Marine veteran who has donated his time to teach some of the free veterans art classes at the Unexpected Art Gallery.

Tim Soule, one of the affected artists is saddened by the fact that the perpetrator(s) felt the need to steal something versus obtaining a print or finding some way to pay for it. His rendition of Jimi Hendrix is one of the missing pieces.

Any donations are greatly appreciated.  Any amount raised in excess of our specific requirements to pay for the fence and art will be allocated to a reward fund for information leading to the identity of the thief or thieves; or recovery of the stolen artwork.
