This is the story of Gulden and her son Aren...
Aren, currently 9 years old, was first diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML) when he was 5 months. Born and raised in Istanbul to Turkish parents, he received his bone marrow transplant from Gulden herself, when he was less than a year old.
Fast forward 8 years, passed with countless doctor's visits, countless trips to the ER, he is standing. He attends 4th grade, he excels at math, plays soccer, loves to play video games with his brother and dreams of becoming a fighter pilot one day.
As of June of 2023, the doctors are now warning the family, that dark times are ahead: he will require some treatment and possibly another bone marrow transplant.
JMML is not a typical cancer. Only observed in 2 children out of 1 million, it requires rigorous testing and monitoring every 3 months. It can result in death if not treated within 4 months after diagnosis. The best care for JMML, in the whole wide world, is in MD Anderson Cancer and Research Hospital, so, Aren's parents moved to Houston, Texas; so that he can be under the care of specialists. After transplantation, it is obligatory to carry out the necessary treatment and tests for the detection of damage to the heart, kidney and other internal organs.
As immigrants, the family does not have health insurance. All of their efforts for finding assistance and other social security programs have effectively failed.

- Türkiye 'de kesin teşhis konulamadığı ve henüz çok küçük olduğu için ve zaman az olduğu için acil olarak MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER a yatış yaptı.uygun donör bulunamamsı ve 4 ay içinde ilik nakli olmazsa ölümle sonuçlanabilir. Annesinden zaman kazanabilmek ve DNA uyumlu kardeşi dünyaya gelene kadar HAPLO nakil yapıldı.
Yogun bakım süreçleri , kalbinin etrafındaki sıvı birikmesi beyin kanaması ve kalp krizi geçirmesi zorlu süreçlerin devamında geldi.
uzun yıllar düzenli kontroller veözenli bakımla yaşamına devam ett. okula gitti abi oldu.
covid- 19 nedeniyle hersey kötüye gitmeye başladı. yüksek ateşli hastalık ve annesinden aldığı iliği atması nedeniyle tekrar2021 yılında MD Anderson Cancer Center a geldiler. doktorlar artık burada kalmasını ve tedavinin kendi kontrolleriyle devam etmesini iste. işlerini ve ailelerini bırakıp Houston 'a yerleştiler. Haziran ayında yapılan son tahlillerde tedavinin ömür boyunca süreceğini ve 3 aylık kontrollerle genetik testlerin yapılmasının gerektiğini öğrendiler.
