Ecuador needs your help!

It has been a very devastating weekend for all Ecuadorians. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador on Saturday 04/16 tolling 480 deaths, 4,065 injured, and thousands more affected, requiring food, shelter, and basic supplies. This disaster is leaving behind many people without family members, a home, water , food, etc. It breaks my heart to see the places where I spent my childhood collapsed, the number of people who are desperately looking for family members and the many children who make it out to not find their parents…
Personally, one of my friends and his family are missing. They were vacationing in Pedernales and the hotel they were staying at collapsed completely. We managed to find a survivor who was part of the hotel’s staff and he told us that they had just seen them 30 minutes before the earthquake hit so we believe they were in their hotel room at the time of the incident. The immediate need to locate my friend is getting more machinery to the affected area and remove the rubble to look for them – the Ecuadorian government doesn’t have enough machinery to help everyone and every minute counts! We need your help to cover the cost for hiring a contractor to bring their own construction machinery and help find them.

I am starting a campaign to help raise 35K and this is how it will be distributed:
· $1,000 will go to the machinery costs needed to uncover the hotel where my friend was staying.
· $34,000 will be split evenly between CARE and UNICEF.
