Maria Anaya KEY Scholarship

Mother/Grandmother/Great Grandmother

My Mom, Maria Anaya, lived a full Life. Read her story.

Maria Anaya served her great purpose to society and to the country that helped her family grow by working up to 3 jobs to maintain her family’s home. In making ends meet she still managed to help so many immigrant people in L.A. from 1974 to 2018. She had an elementary school education but she was resourceful, kind and she guided everyone she met.  She taught them to be brave in the face of adversity, and she fulfilled many roles.  She was their substitute mom, their nurse, their bank, their adviser, their seamstress, their event coordinator, their mentor, their caterer, their landlord, their Godmother, and ultimately the best friend ever.

At her death bed, I reminded her there might be at least a million people who knew her and who benefited from her delicious food, her patience, her kindness, her willingness to help, and from teaching them that life in the U.S. through hard work, education, love and perseverance would yield great fruit.

The KEY word to her children and grandchildren was: “Keep Educating Yourself” (KEY)

Now that she is gone, she asks that in lieu of flowers for her funeral, that YOU help her raise money for her great grand-kids, Antonio Vasquez, Stephanie, Veronica & Pablo Ramirez, Nataly, Evelyn, Santiago, & Talia Gonzalez to follow her KEY instructions.  She knew that most of us with immigrant parents or grandparents understand the struggle of raising a family in hopes of having our children’s lives be better than ours.  Your donation will continue her KEY legacy by establishing a 529 Scholarship account to help her great grand-kids reach their educational goals. May she Rest In Peace knowing the KEY was found.

She designated Yolanda Ramirez, her remaining eldest daughter to manage the account for the great grand-kids.  Thank YOU for your donation.

It is fully deductible and greatly appreciated.

With Gratitude,
