Support for Amy's cancer journey

Donation protected
It all started as a snowboarding trip in January 2018...Amy's friends asked her to come along to Blue Mountain and give snowboarding a try.  On her 1st try she took a spill and hurt her right arm! Bravely Amy waited in the chalet until her friends had had their fill of fun because given her kind nature - she didn't want to spoil it for them. Once home she was taken to the local hospital for X-rays and told that her wrist was broken.  The X-rays showed that the bone had a lot of cysts and it was believed that that is what weakened the bone so that it had broken.  At a follow up visit it was recommended that she would need to have surgery to fix the wrist as it was a serious break and crucial to have it repaired well. As an energetic and artistic right handed young lady of 17, she faced some challenges with her cast  but was optimistic of things being back to normal in a few months...but that was not to be. As the wrist was suppose to be healing Amy noticed that at the break area there seemed to be a lump forming but brave girl she is, she resumed her work at Tim Horton's in Listowel and awaited further word for surgery.  The lump kept growing and the wrist became stiff and hard. After going for more tests and a biopsy the family waited for results.  On April 18 the dreaded word "cancer" entered Amy's world and sent her family on a journey they never asked to take!  Amy has a rare form of bone cancer.  She has started aggressive treatment at McMasters in Hamilton, ON on April 26th.  She will be given several rounds of chemo with hopes of being able to have surgery this summer followed by another extended series of treatments.  Presently it is looking like an 8 month treatment plan.  Amy and her family have a strong faith and are trusting God to provide for them physically, emotionally and spiritually as they travel this difficult road.  Understandably, Amy has needed to quit her job and will have no income for quite some time.  She was making payments on a car and so we would like to raise sufficient funds to pay off her car so that the thought of that doesn't need to stress her out and to also take a load off her parents shoulders in this way. Would you be willing to help?  Any funds that are raise over and above the needed amount for the car will be given to the family to use in their additional costs of many trips for treatment and to support the emotional and physical well being of the family.    Amy's parents are Ray and Paula Sauder and she has 2 younger brothers, Anthony and Colton.  They would appreciate your prayers and support.  God Bless! Now just a few lines about who I am and why I'm doing this....(by request) I am Arlene Dueck a bookkeeper from the town of Elmira, Ont and long time friend of Amy's parents Ray & Paula. We attended church together for many years and developed a great friendship. 7 years ago, I lost 2 nephews in separate car accidents in 9 months time. While I and my extended family were blessed by many friends and much needed support at the time, Ray and Paula stand out as some "true blue friends" as my sister would like to say! So this is just an attempt to give back in some small way for their friendship and support in the past. This fund idea was brewing in my mind when my sister Twyla (who used to be Amy's teacher) messaged me and wondered if there was something we could do to help raise funds to help Amy pay off her car. It was just the push I needed to get it going. So today(May 4) I was able to (with the help of Amy's uncle Cam) set up a trust account at the Kindred Credit Union for these funds to be transfered to. It has come to my attention that I may not have set the goal quite high enough to cover the cost of the car so if funds beyond the $8500 are raised... All the better! The trust fund has been set up so the family can draw funds as needed and anyone interested in making a direct deposit at Kindred is welcome to do so. - Arlene
