    HI my name is Leo Buscher and I am 14 years old.  I am trying to collect money so that I may become a student ambassador with the People to People Ambassador program. A group of fellow high schoolers, from different schools, and I will be traveling to 7 different countries in 20 days. Those countries are England, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

            On the first four days, I will be going to England and I will get to tour London’s most historic sites. I will get the inside scoop on modern-day politics from a parliament representative.

             On days 5-7, I will be in France.  I will spend a day in Normandy commemorating World War II and talk with a World War II survivor. I will come face-to-face with the Mona Lisa during a tour of the Musee du Louvre. I will see the amazing views of Paris, the city of love, from atop the Eiffel Tower.

             On day 8, I will go to Belgium for a day and see the impact of World War I. I will honor fallen WWI soldiers at the Flanders Field Memorial and explore the Flanders Field Memorial Museum. I will then tour the city of Bruges by horse and carriage. I will visit a Belgium Chocolatier and Waffle-maker to learn how these artisanal treats are made and then sample them ourselves. I think this is going to be my favorite part of the trip

            For the next two days, on days 9-10, I will gain an international perspective of peace in the Netherlands. I will be taking a walking tour of The Hague, from the Peace Palace to the international Court of Justice.  I will learn more about the holocaust with a visit to the Anne Frank House, and discover the canals and bridges of Amsterdam during a guided cruise.

            On the following six days, 11-16, I will then be in Germany. I will go to the legendary Cologne Cathedral; I hope my nose is ready for that. I will then explore the Great Castle of Heidelberg. I’ve never been in a castle so that sounds like fun and an awesome place to have a game of hide and seek.  I will be living with a host family, as they invite me into their home, to share their culture and cuisine for two days. I will take part in an environmental service project in the Black Forest.

            On days 17-18, I will be enjoying the natural beauty of Austria. I will be taking a guided hike through the Swiss Alps. While there, I will be participating in a challenging ropes course.  On the way back down we aren’t just walking down, we will be riding a open air roller coaster!

            On day 19, I will go to Switzerland and receive an ambassadorial welcome from a Swiss official in Zurich. I will learn more about the unique city during a scavenger hunt.

            Day 20 will be my last day in Europe.  I will come back home to the U.S. to see my family. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and adventures.  It will be a great opportunity that I will love to share with everyone. This will be a once in a lifetime experience!
