Hi! My name is Amanda Roberts. I am raising money for a once in a lifetime trip to Iceland!
Goal: $ 2600 for Travel and lodging, etc
ABOUT ME:
My name is Amanda and I am about halfway through the 8th grade at my middle school in Castaic, California.
I strive to acheive in my classes and have tried my best to make my parents proud (This is my second year as a member of The National JR Honor Society at school).
I am a lover of music, like my grandparents before me, and am a member of the Castaic Middle School Advanced band (Clarinet). At church, I also perform in my Church Choir, and Bell Choir, in addition to the time I spend in our Youth group, and volunteering.

I also play am a pretty avid Soccer fan and have been playing with the AYSO for the last few years.
I recently became a member of a travel club at my middle school in Castaic, California. We are planning an amazing trip this summer to the European country of ICELAND!
Our 6 day - trip (June 9 - 14, 2018) is via the WORLDSTRIDES EDUCATIONAL TRAVEL Program.
I am very excited about the opportunity to see another country and culture. This would be my first time venturing beyond the U.S., and the farthest I have travelled EVER!
ICELAND:
Iceland is a Nordic island country of Europe located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It has a population of 332,529
The capital of Iceland is the beautiful city of Reykjavik:
TRIP ACTIVITIES:
Here are some of the awesome activities that are planned for us on our Iceland program:
· Blue Lagoon: Explore the Blue Lagoon, a unique wonder of nature in the middle of a black lava field. Take a dip in the famous waters and feel invigorated by the natural beauty around you.
· The Great Geysir: Although the Great Geysir is no longer active, the area around it is still very active and has unique geothermal sites, including many hot springs. You’ll also see Strokkur, a nearby geyser that erupts about every 10 minutes.
Solheimajokull Glacier: Walk right up to Solheimajokull Glacier, which is the southwest snout, or terminus, of the Myrdalsjokull icecap and gaze at the magnificent blue hues that run throughout.
OTHER THINGS WE'LL SEE:
The gorgeous European streets are a far cry from Los Angeles traffic!
And, the first time I saw the picture above, I thought the street was heading towards a SPACE SHIP ( its the Free Hallgrimskirkja Church)!
Since Iceland has some volcanioc activity, there are natural hot springs in the area. This crater is located in the Lake Myvatn area in northern iceland.
One of the things I'm most hoping to see is the beautiful Northern Lights.
And... maybe if I'm lucky...
...I'll get to see these PUFFINS hanging about! Its actually a little early for their nesting season, but who knows! :-)
MY FUNDRAISING GOAL:
Of course, travel to another country is thousands of dollars, so I am trying to raise funds to afford the airfare and lodging, etc.
I have been collecting recyclable bottles in my neighborhood and selling crafts at my church to help pay for my trip, but unfortunately those are not enough. I am therefore asking for your help in paying for my trip.
My goal is $2600; this includes the $2461 for Travel, lodging, plus a little extra for Food / Souvenirs :-)
I would appreciate any help you can give. Any donation big or small would bring me closer to my goal. As important as a donation would be, SHARING my "Gofundme" link would be even more helpful!
