ALL FOR RIO!

We are doing a sponsored family fun walk through JPM Estate Agents to raise money for the very brave Rio who is currently battling cancer. The walk will be on Sunday 5th Feb starting at Hillsborough Park Car park and finishing at The Wadsley Jack where clare will have some sarnies ready for us.

Its a slow pace walk so all are welcome! Dogs are also welcome!

We are hoping to wear football kits if possible. ⚽️

PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION FROM RIO’S MUM CHLOE SPURR….

As we approach the end of Rio’s treatment, we are appealing for your help. Rio has 9 weeks of chemo left. In total, he will have had 42 weeks of chemo, including 6 different cytotoxic drugs (Vincristine, Dactinomyocin, Doxorubicin, Etoposide, Carboplatin & Cyclophosphamide). 10 consecutive days of Radiotherapy under general anaesthetic. Plus a 4 hour surgery to remove his right kidney & main tumour.

A few weeks after his last dose of chemo we will have CT & MRI scans to see if his treatment has worked. We pray & hope for Rio to be cancer free.

If Rio’s scans show no cancer there’s no question how overjoyed we will be….IT WILL NOT HOWEVER MEAN THIS IS OVER. The ‘High risk’ and Anaplastic features of Rio’s diagnosis make his chance of relapse high Should he relapse, we will not have many (if any) options left for treatment & Rio’s chance of survival will plummet to around 10%. This is the whole reason behind our ‘All for Rio’ fundraising campaign‼️

We may find ourselves in a desperate position where we need to access a clinical trial overseas to try & save Rio’s life …..WE WILL NOT RISK BEING UNPREPARED FOR THIS. ‼️

Post treatment, Rio will have x-rays & Ultrasounds every 3 months to check for cancer. We will need to be vigilant in noticing symptoms or changes in Rio’s body & general health so that we can act fast if necessary.

We will be pushing fundraising efforts to the limits in 2023. We want raise as much as possible by April (in case his treatment hasn’t worked or he relapses quickly)

We are asking all of you for your help…there’s only so much time as a family we can dedicate to planning fundraising ……

So many of you have done remarkable things to raise funds so far but more is needed. With your help we have raised around £150,000 since June! We want to raise at least £250,000 by April.
