Alfonso’s Medical Expenses

Spende geschützt
In 2007, my father, Alfonso Ramirez, who resides in Corpus Christi, Texas,  was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, or CLL.

While this was a complete shock to everyone, we  have a strong faith, and family. We turned to the specialists for their expertise and guidance, and have been on a ten year journey in search of remission. Over the years, my dad has stayed confident in God's plan. He has always followed the specialist's recommendations regarding treatment, medication, and lifestyle.

When faced with opposition, my dad has a personality and determination that doesnt cower easily. We knew this battle would be no different for him. Over the last ten years, he has had many victories that have given him some brighter days, and even months. However, in late 2017,  he was informed that the CLL had transformed into Richter’s Syndrome aka, Richter’s Transformation
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richter%27s_transformation).

My father's CLL is now referred to as "non-Hodgkin lymphoma". This type is much more aggressive and grows very quickly.  He immediatly began traveling to Houston, Texas for the the best treatment at M.D. Anderson.  This included days of extensive rounds of high dose chemotherapy. The hope was to prepare him for a possibe stem cell transplant-Truly the last, and best life-saving option available to him at this phase of the disease. We were THRILLED with the news that his numbers are within the range to recieve a stem cell transplant AND a perfect match had been located from an unknown doner!!!

Here is where we need your help-

The decision was made that the transplant will take place in San Antonio, Texas, where he will remain in-patient for 4-6 weeks. He will then reside with me for 3-6 months because post transplant he is required to remain within a certain radius of the hospital for monitoring. This was VERY difficult to accept, as he resides in Corpus Christi, Texas with his mother, and is also a single parent to my 11 year old brother, Alfonso, Jr.  But true to his devotion to our family, he wants to keep some level of normalcy for my brother. Therefore Alfonso, Jr. will remain in Corpus with our grandmother and extended family during his recovery.

The deductible for the transplant is $10,000.00. In addition to that, there will be expenses associated with this that can be clearly forseen, and without a doubt, unforseen.

Our family has a strong faith that tells us  - PUT YOUR HOPE IN THE LORD. TRAVEL STEADILY ALONG HIS PATH. - Psalms 37-34.   We believe HIS path has taken my father to the miraculous moment of being approved for a transplant. HIS path has encouraged a complete stranger to donate their stem cells to save the life of a man they will never even know by name.  We believe HIS path will calm the storm, and turn the tide for this man I am so blessed to call my dad. We believe HIS path will restore my fathers health, once and for all.

The  financial obligation associated with this isn't a burden, it’s a BLESSING. After the transplant, my father WILL be HEALED. I'm asking you to be a part of the BLESSING he so deserves. In doing so, he will see that it is time to reap the blessing of all that he has sown for so many his entire life .

PLEASE know that ANY size donation is a contribution that will make an impact, and we are forever grateful to you for it.

Thank you for prayers and support. We love you!
