Alberta's Medical Mission Trip

Donation protected
I am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner practicing for over 35 years.  On March 14th I will travel to Guatemala  to will complete my 6th medical mission serving the children of  Escuintla, Guatemala. I strongly believe that bringing a sense of hope and empowerment is essential in the healthcare services I provide.  God willing, my intent is to make medical missions part of my life, for the rest of my life.

Through this medical mission, I will continue to reach out to families who are very poor and in need of healthcare.

Any help you can give to defray the costs will be greatly appreciated. Your contributions will be used towards airfare, lodging, medical supplies, medicines and transporting items (baggage fees) that are needed.

What I have learned from the medical missions in Guatemala have also enhanced my personal and professional life.  While packing for my first medical mission in 2013 my oldest grandson, at the age of 14, asked me  “Nana why would you go all the way to Guatemala when we have so many poor people here in America?” My response: " in the US we have choices and in impoverished countries they have little to no choices”. After we then sat for a while and I explained the depth of that answer, he said “Nana, I now understand; I am very proud of you! We are so fortunate here in this country! "

His encouragement along with the rest of my nine grandchildren and my total family are my motivating forces.

During the medical missions, I was blessed to befriend another missionary who taught me  that the major cause for the diseases and re-occurring illnesses were related to the heavily polluted drinking water and the absence of proper sanitation. Something had to be done!
As a result, our dear friend (whom sadly passed in December of 2015), my husband and I initiated a volunteer water & sanitation project (GWASP).  This project has grown over the last four years with the support of family, friends and non-profit charitable organizations.  After I complete the week long medical mission this February I will stay a few days longer to continue our volunteer work with the water project.  Therefore, your support helps with both the medical mission and my travel costs of the water and sanitation project.

"In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path."  Proverbs 3:6
