ALBERT STEWART MEMORIAL FUND

Growing up, most of us were deeply touched by Albert Stewart. His tremendous energy, acute intelligence, relentless humor, voluminous talent, and mysterious past were all part of the tapestry that was our experience of St. Ann's and informed our humanity. Imagine how he contributed -- emotionally, spiritually, and financially -- to the lives of his wife, his two sons, a daughter and a newborn grandchild! There is a very real, immediate need to support his beloved family, now staggering in the wake of Albert's sudden, awful death. Please consider donating as much as you possibly can to ease the unexpected and tremendous financial burden this tragedy has placed on his widow, our fellow classmate Vashti Dubois (Class of '79).

The photograph of Albert and Vashti, and following note, are from Lisa B. DuBois.  "This weekend our family lost Al to a tragic accident. We loved Al in a way that can only be expressed in heart and hugs and laughter and tears. He was a wonderful husband. He made my sister in law laugh and shake her head at his nonsense and irreverence daily. He was a Daddy through and through. From sun up to sun up again he was a father. He was a coach, a chaperone, a chauffeur, a lullaby singer and a "don't make me come up there" kind of Daddy. He filled every room he walked into. With his beautiful voice, he could sing your socks off. He was loud and funny and present and loyal and whole and real in ways some of us can only wish to be. Al would say what we were all thinking anyway and crack us up every time. We loved, loved, loved him. My husband Anthony Dubois would beg Al over and over again to take his hysterically funny, riotously disrespectful, truth-telling act to somebody's open mic night 'cause the world could only be made better if Al was at the microphone. We are all so hurt by this loss. You see, I know I said it already, but we LOVED Al. We loved him. All of us loved him so much. Since his leaving, his home has been overrun with a community of people that were fortunate enough to have Al rocket through their universe and change the course, direction and trajectory of their lives. Because knowing Al, loving Al and having Al love you back was a blessing, a priceless, priceless blessing. Oh Al I can hear your voice right now and as I'm crying, I'm laughing. We love and miss you so much, Albert Stewart."
