Albert Champagne is a hard working beloved father, family man, son, and friend. On February 14th 2018 he was almost taken from our lives. On what should have been a night filled with joy and love, he fell victim to a heinous crime that has yet to receive justice.

While attempting to walk home from the store its seems as if he was hit and mercilessly dragged by a car. Instead of trying to help Al, he was badly beaten and stabbed. His lifeless body was then moved to an area less visable to the public, hidden in a dark alley behind a parked semi. He was left there, scared and alone, to bleed out and die.

Against the odds, and all of the excruciating pain and suffering, Al survived and is expected to make a full recovery. But he needs YOUR help! The road to recovery is long and extremely difficult.

As a result of this tragic incident Al's skin and tissue (from His tailbone and upper thigh to his knee ) was completely detached from the muscle and bone. His perineum was cut and is now just a gaping hole. A small area of his abdomen was surgically opened for a portion of his intestine to come through on the outside of his body, as he is unable to use regular bowel functions and is reliant on a colostomy bag.

The trauma was so bad that the torn skin on his thigh developed necrosis and to save the leg, the majority of skin and tissue had to be surgically removed , leaving his muscle and bone exposed.

Al has already undergone 9 surgeries including one stem cell skin graft. Because of the extent of Al's injuries the complete course of action is still unknown. He is expected to receive numerous surgeries over the next 3 weeks and 8 additional (standard split-thickness) skin grafts. After all of the surgery is complete Al will then be sent to a rehabilitation center and will possibly remain there for months.

Al is strong and determined. His strength and love for his family will help him fight this long battle he faces. Unfortunately that is not enough. He needs the support of his family and friends. He needs compassion and generosity from everyone who reads this campaign. He needs YOUR help!

Insurance covers some of the costs of the surgeries and rehabilitation, but it doesn't cover it all. Skin grafts are sometimes considered cosmetic and are incredibly expensive. In this particular case, skin grafts are needed because the surgeons are unable to close the open wounds without them, yet Al is still responsible for a portion of the costs which are thousands of dollars.

Inpatient Rehabilitation costs approximately $11,000 - $30,000 of which Al is responsible for 20-50%. As a part of rehabilitation he will be required to purchase numerous medical supplies and equipment. He will also require a temporary home nurse, physical therapist, and a home health aide.

As head of the household Al will no longer be able to provide for his family for the duration of his recovery. He intends on trying to obtain temporary disability to help pay for his medical bills as well as his day to day living expenses. Because of Al's independent yet and hardworking nature he is not the type of person to ask for help even when he is in desperate need... And right now he IS in DESPERATE NEED! AL NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Al is the type of person who is always there for anyone who is in need, always there to lend a helping hand, and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure that no one has to go without. It is only hoped that his loving and kind heartednes is rewarded in this tragic and desperate time of need.

So PLEASE! If you are able to donate, ANYTHING will help. If you are not able to donate please please SHARE THIS STORY. Help get the word out to as many people as you can. We need your help!

THANK YOU for taking the time to read this and for keeping Al in your thoughts and prayers.
