Adrienne Altman

On October 8, 2010 Adrienne Altman had an MRI done in Sitka AK where she and her family lived.  She was checking to see if she had a herniated disk only to find out that she had lesions on her spine and pelvis.  She and her family - husband Heath, and two precious girlies, Madeleine (4) and Avery (2) - all headed to Seattle on Sunday, Oct 10th.  Long story short and moving forward to today, she has Myoepithelial Carcinoma, stage 4.  She has completed multiple rounds of radiation and chemotherapy treatment at Moffitt in Tampa, FL.

Most recently, Adrienne went into the hospital due to shortness of breath. While she was there, they found that the tumors were causing fluid to build up in her lungs.  She had to have her all the fluid drained and after a long week in the hospital, she is now back home with her family.

The doctors at Moffitt have decided to try one more round of Chemo and are also going to be doing a surgery next week that will add bone filler into her hip/pelvic area to help repair a fracture caused by deterioration from all of the radiation.  Adrienne is in a great deal of pain and for now she must use a walker during the day and needs oxygen treatments at night.

Adrienne continues to have the best attitude, never once questioning why this is happening to her.  She never complains.  Even after a week stay in the hospital, she was only thinking of how she could help other patients as she asked the nurses if there were any other young patients there who might need or want someone to talk to.  She not only has a heart of pure gold, she has a strength that we just can\'t explain.  Adrienne\'s faith is strong and she is a complete inspiration to anyone and everyone she is around.  We are all praying and believing in God\'s Miracle!

Because Moffitt doesn\'t really know what else they can do for Adrienne, we are looking into other treatment options.  Right now Adrienne and her family are having to make decisions based on what insurance will cover and what they are able to afford.  We are setting up this website in an effort to raise funds so that she can make a decision based on where she will receive the BEST treatment, and not how much it costs!  Please donate as generously as you feel lead.  All funds will go straight to the Altman family.  Thank you and may God Bless you.
