Adoration concert adoring Life and Love

Hi there,

My name is Christian Mark Gibbs, I am a vocal performance major at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College and my passion is the stage.

Did you enjoy the video? That is "Amore o grillo" from Puccini's OPERA Madama Butterfly. Well, believe it or not, I didn't always sing like that. I started singing at the age of 5 BUT only started training classically at the age of 18 (my freshman year at Queens College). I have gone through tremendous growth by hard work and dedication and I am at the point in my studies in which I must produce a solo voice recital. This recital will take place in the LeFrak Hall at Queens College (65-30 Kissena Blvd, Flushing, NY, 11367) at 6pm Monday, November 4th, 2013. The theme is "Adoration" of life and love. The concert will range works from the Baroque period to Contemporary pieces including spirituals. I will be singing in 5 languages representing the four (4) main languages of classical/opera music and also a language I personally love to sing in. This concert will also feature visual/graphic artists that will create pieces that deal with the topic at hand.

Why Adoration?
Adoration (Latin) is to respect; reverence; strong admiration or devotion. The term comes from the Latin adōrātiō, meaning "to give homage or worship to someone or something."

In more simple terms, I love life and the beauty of love!

As you know putting on this concert will cost funds more than a student myself can bear but with your help I will be able to accomplish the vision set for this concert and will be able to bring an experience and not just a show to the Queens College community and New York.

When you contribute today you will be contributing towards the pianist that will be accompanying me on this recital, the programs and ticket printing, the reception foods and drinks, coachings and lessons in preparation for the recital, decoration, advertisement (flyers/invitations/postcards), tech team (including videographer and photographer), and more logistical things needed. The projective budget amount is $1850.00 in order to accomplish such an ambitious show.
