Adam's memorial funds

Adam was my surprize package, I did not know I was pregnate till I was 4 months a long.  Adam Ashour Hassan Mughraby was born 4/02/1984 in Monticello N.Y.  I fell in love with my son the moment I saw him.  Later doctors came in to tell me that Adam was born hearing impaired with Treachers Collins Syndrom.  I admit I cried at first.  Adam was a good baby, smiled & laughed much, cried little.

Adam was not a perfect child.  There was the time he flushed his hearing aid down the toilet (exspensive) or tore up a library book because he did not like the ending.  Do not argue with Adam you will not win.  Adam is the kind of person who will stop on the street and give money to the homeless with out being asked.  He is a kind and sensitive.  The one thing that upsets Adam and moves him to action is social injustist.  Adam volunteered during the last 3 presidential campains.

I moved Adam and myself to San Diego in 1987.  The move was made so that Adam could get the best doctors for his rare bone condition.  Adam had 19 operations from age 8 to 18 for Treachers Collins.  Adam kept his sense of humor during this difficult time.

Adam was a good student, he was in the gifted and talented program during most of his education.  Adam went to Hamilton Elementry, Farb Middle School, Monroe Clark Middle School and Gompers Secondary School.  In the winter of 1998 on vacation in Miami Adam drowned in the pool at the Radisson Hotel.  Adam was in a coma for several days, when he came out of it he had lost 3 years memory and had short term memory problems.  This changed his plans for the future.  He went from gifted to special ed but, graduated in mostly regular classes.

Adam started college in 2003 at City College.  After his first semester he came down with Crohns Disease.  Adams plans changed again.  When he started back he went to Mesa college where he completed the certificate program for Video Game Design.  Since Adams health had been poor and he was never able to find work in his field.

In 2014 Adam was diagnosed with rectal cancer after treatment, he went into remission for about a year.  December of last year his cancer came back with a vengence.  Adam went into a clinical trial of a drug to treat his type of cancer,  it did not work.  He has 3 months or less.  He is not doing well.  We thought that we would have about a year, but we don't.

My Adam has been the light of my life.  He has been my joy and frustration.  I shall miss the sound of his laughter, his gental caring nature and enthusiasm for comic art, video gaming and politics.  I will even miss the arguements and repeated questions.  No more games of Upwords or Othelo. No longer will we share our thoughts on the news of the day or watch a movie together that made us laugh or cry together.  There is an ache in my heart at the thought of loosing him.  My world will be a little darker with out my son.  Christina Espinoza

I came into Adam's life when he was 8 years old.  If it wasn't for his hunger his mom and I would not have a relationship.  I was there for Adam in good and bad times.  Adam is a very smart person if we needed to spell a word, we could count on Adam.  Also, he was called our walking latter, I'll miss all the things that Adam did and was very usefull in anything that was needed.  I have grown to love Adam as a son.  I may not have made Adam but, I helped raise him.  I'll miss all his generous ways.  His sense of humor and his smile.  You'll always have a piece of my heart.  Humberto Espinoza Sr.

I am trying to get the arrangements taken care of in the next month or so, hopefully before my son leaves us.  My husband and I will be in charge of the final expenses.  We wish to thank everyone who contributes.  I do not know how we could do this without your help.
