Adam's Rehab Fund

This is my friend Adam Markind. He was hit very hard from behind late Sunday night, while walking his dog near his apartment in East Germantown. His attackers took what they could from his pockets after knocking him out. His dog Roosevelt ran away in fear. Waking up on the cold cement with a broken Hip and a broken elbow.  His glasses smashed on the ground. Near blind in the dark he called out to passers by(maybe the worst part of the story). Person after person and car after car passed by. It took about an hour and a half for someone to respond to his cries. The Police got Adam to the Hospital. He had emergency surgery on his hip on in-take. We found his dog after thousands of people shared his story on Facebook. One of the Officers messaged me on FB that they took Roosevelt to Adam's apt. that night. Yay! got his friend back! Adam needs at least on more surgery on his elbow and possibly a full Hip replacement. Adam was just getting back on track after 2 years of rehabilataion on his leg and ankle( fell off train platform) and recently losing his mother. The past two years he lived with me while recovering. I watched him hobble on crutches to the bus 5 days a week to go to work in all kinds of weather. He made no excuses. He wants to be his own man. I just want to give him a leg up and show him there is love for him. His social worker is doing the best she can. This Friday he will have a surgery on his elbow. Adam's HMO will cover his rehab for a couple weeks. But at best he only has until April 24th to find handicap accessible apartment. He will have to pay out of pocket for continued rehab. He was paying $600 a month, the deep end of what he could afford for an apt. I am trying to raise $30,000 to put towards his medial expenses(and rehabilation) and finding him a handicap accessible home. Thank you for reading and caring about a perfect stranger!
