Abigail & Elizabeth Disney Dream

Donation protected
My sister is 18 years older than me.  I was almost 5 years old when she had her first (of five children), Jennifer Ann.

Jennifer and I grew up much more like siblings than an uncle/niece relationship.  We've shared experiences in high school, college and life events of marriage and children as we grew older.   Jennifer has been blessed with two beautiful girls, Abigail and Elizabeth, now 12 and 14 years old.

I moved to Florida just after her second child was born so we only see each other at major family events over the past 12 years.  Three weeks ago, I saw Jennifer and her daughters under terribly tragic circumstances.

The past 12 months have been so arduous for these two young girls, it defies definition.  My niece fell from a 12 foot ladder last August and shattered her leg so severely, it required multiple surgeries over a 3 month period.  She was in a hospital bed for this period and confined to a wheelchair for the 5 months that followed.  It was unclear during much of the rehabilitation if she would ever walk again. The burden of 24 hour care, hospital bills and her immobile condition required the sale of their house and my niece, at 46 years old, had to move in with her parents (my sister) so they could provide care for her and her daughters.   During this time, it was impossible for my niece to return to her work of tutoring children with severe learning disabilities.

But that is not why we have set up this GoFundMe page.

One month ago, Abigail and Elizabeth's father and Jennifer's husband of 16 years, Chris Collins, had his life tragically cut short at the age of just 45 years old.   He made the horrible decision of taking his own life.   Chris was a wonderful father to these girls and the they will carry this horrible burden of not having their father being part of their lives as they grow up.

These two amazing girls need something positive to happen and YOU can help make a dream come true.

The only thing that Abigail and Elizabeth have every wanted to do was to go on a Disney World family vacation.   Their parents had wanted to do this before the girls were too old to enjoy the magic of Disney but some unexpected expense kept them from making this trip.  The plans were put on indefinite hold after their mother's accident.  Now, with the loss of thier father, it seems highly improbable that they will ever be able to make this trip without significant financial assistance.

Our family is reaching out to the generosity of our friends, colleagues, parishioners, extended family and whomever wants to help with this campaign.  Please give as much or as little as you can afford.  100% will go to provide this much needed family retreat for Abigail and Elizabeth. Any money that is left over will go into a 529(c) savings account to help offset college costs.

Instead of going out to that restaurant this weekend or buying that extra toy for your child, please consider sending that money to this GoFundMe page to help this family overcome thier tragedy and heal from their loss.

We would like to see how much we can raise in three weeks.  This will mean so much to these amazing young women.  Their father can never be replaced, but this can help them bear some of the pain of losing him so young. I am confident that your generosity will far exceed our goals.  Do it now, don't click away before you donate to their campaign.  God Bless all of you who contribute, wish them well or who pass this along to your friends.

Please select any amount you can share.  We are trying to raise $4000 in the next three weeks to make this a very special Christmas holiday for these young women.

No amount is too big or too small.
