Want to move forward and help those living with breast cancer do so too?

On the weekend of October 5-6, the community of Another Mother Runner is holding their annual Motherlode of Miles,  and in conjunction, raising money for The DONNA Foundation, a nonprofit organization aimed at raising money to address the critical needs of families living with breast cancer. 

It's super simple: You run/walk any distance on October 5 or 6. You can go solo or join one of the groups around the country. To help those living with breast cancer continue to move forward, we encourage you to make a donation of any size.

Dimity+ Sarah love, love, love the vibe of women's races and have known for years about the Donna Marathon. (Our respective locations—Colorado and Oregon—however, made it tough to actually see in person.) In addition, we have admired its founder, Donna Deegan, a three-time breast cancer survivor and all-out badass.

This year, when we decided to add a charity component to the Motherlode, we knew we wanted to help somehow with breast cancer. We—and you, we're sure—have known too many women and families affected by breast cancer. (Not surprising, since one in eight women will have invasive breast cancer in her life.) Talk of biopsies and bilateral mastectomies, Herceptin and reconstruction pops up way too often on our social media channels, on our runs with friends, in our everyday conversations.

Over two years ago, our director of marketing, Katie Sznewjas, shared her experience in her Running after Breast Cancer columns. Back then, she was figuring out to run with new boobs. Now she's now training for Chicago, her first marathon.

Katie's path to health back to wasn't as linear as it sounds, though, and we know the conquering the physical disease is just one aspect of healing. The Donna Foundation acknowledges the financial demands breast cancer can have on a family and helps relieve that burden.

Around Another Mother Runner, we embrace all the strength and power that comes from the simple act of moving forward, so it's a natural fit to embrace a charity that helps families living with breast cancer move forward as well.
