South Carolina Organizations Team-Up to Raise Funds

for the Purchase of AEDS for the Community




 

GREENVILLE, SC – The South Carolina Racquetball Players’ Association in cooperation with Sportsclub Fitness and Wellness and OB Hospitalist Group will host the Sweet Caroline Open racquetball tournament for professionals and amateurs on January 26-28, 2018.  Each year the tournament identifies a charity or organization with a worthy cause and gives back to that organization through the generosity of the tournament’s sponsors.

 

This year’s focus will be on heart health education, prevention, and emergency treatments for those suffering a heart attack. The tournament will offer educational information, videos, and speakers on heart health. The tournament will also work to raise funds for the purchase of 40 AEDs for organizations in South Carolina that directly impact the community.  

 

A number of these AEDs will be provided to the Greenville County Sheriff and City of Simpsonville Police for use in their patrol cars as well as the City of Greenville Police Department for use in their buildings. Police officers respond to medical emergencies including cardiac arrest on a regular basis, often arriving on scene minutes ahead of emergency medical services. AEDs in police cruisers will give the officers an opportunity to administer aid more quickly, thus saving lives.

 

The Sweet Caroline Open will also offer a buy one give one opportunity for local businesses.  A business will be able to purchase an AED for their use while giving a second AED back to the community.  For more information on the Sweet Caroline Open or the AED fundraiser, please contact Lynette Froelich.
