A DOG FOR ALICIA - FACEBOOK PAGE
Alicia has extreme anxiety and PTSD. She has been apartment bound for over a year now. Her psychiatrist submitted paperwork for her to get a psychiatric service dog to help her gain some confidence and independence. Alicia would really like to be able to get out and pay bills, grocery shop and spend time with friends without the constant fear of panic attacks. When her dog graduates she will go in for 2 weeks to train with the dog. We don't want this opportunity to pass her by, but we don't have the money to do it for her.
Psychiatric Service Dogs are like any other service animal. They are individually trained in obedience, performing tasks, and working in distracting public environments to mitigate their partner's psychiatric disability. Their function is not to provide emotional support, but to perform tasks which enable their partner to function in ordinary ways the non-disabled take for granted .
We appreciate any help that you are able to offer.
