Kota's Top Surgery

Hi, I'm Kota and I'm a 22 year old transmasculine nonbinary man.

My chest has been the largest cause of my dysphoria since it started to grow when I was just about 10 or 11 years old. I've always hated it and tried to hide it; I may have only come out officially as trans at an older age but I'd been binding or wearing sports bras since I was about 15. It is the major and main cause of my dysphoria, my discomfort, and contributes greatly to my diagnosed depression and anxiety.

I came out as trans just over 2 years ago - and I've been provided care from a clinic for just about a year now, from therapists for a little longer than that, and am seeking to hopefully get top surgery within the next year.

I'm 7 months on HRT. I need to hit the 1 year mark before insurance considers even covering some of the cost of my top surgery. And things continue to get worse, as I am going to lose my insurance coverage by September this year due to circumstances out of my control - and I will have to apply for Medicare/Medicaid once that time comes.

Any bit helps as this is going to be a hefty bill to cover. I am currently unfit to work, as advised by my therapist; I make money online through my art, but not nearly enough to cover a surgery like this.

This surgery is incredibly important to me - it's something I've wanted even before I realized I was trans, because of how much I hated my chest, and how uncomfortable it made me. Just the thought of being able to have a chest that aligns with how I see myself, one I can feel comfortable in, feel comfortable wearing tight-fitting clothes without wanting to cry, feel comfortable swimming in without having to wear swim-shirts that do nothing to hide my large chest, to wear all the clothes I want to wear without feeling like a girl impersonating a boy, to finally be comfortable in my body.
