Help Us Pay for Our Dad's Medical Bills

Donation protected
On February 3, 2014, my father, Resty Talain, was diagnosed with fourth stage renal cell carcinoma, also known as fourth stage kidney cancer.  Renal cell carcinoma is a tough cancer to detect because it typically shows no signs of existence until it has metastasized onto other organs.  The instant this type of cancer metastasizes, it is considered fourth stage and is hard to treat.  Currently, my dad's cancer has spread from his kidneys to his lungs, his clavicle, his lymph nodes in his neck, and his pelvic bone.  The mets in his bones are extremely painful causing him high levels of discomfort throughout the day and night.

The medications to treat his cancer are very expensive and what insurance and disability pay he has left is going to be gone by the end of July.  Him having been the primary source of income in our home, losing his coverage would mean putting our home in debt far more than we can foresee.  From hospital bills due to frequent visits to the emergency room, to the cost of chemotherapy bills, to the cost of radiation treatments, to household payments such as our home mortgage -- the list of things we need to pay for to keep afloat and to keep my father as healthy as possible grows by the day.

As a family, my mother, Rose, brother, Andrew, and I can only do so much with our incomes combined.  With chemotherapy pills costing upwards of $1000 per round with insurance and more without insurance (he's on round three and has to be on chemo for at least a year), radiation costing $700 per visit with insurance (he has one down and one more scheduled), copays during doctors visits of upwards of $50 per visit with insurance (he goes to various doctors at least twice a week, if not up to four times a week), and various pain medications costing hundreds of dollars per bottle, we are in need of a lot of help in hopes to keep my dad's quality of life high and in hopes that he will stay alive.

There could have been no way for us to see that our dad was going to get sick.  He took very good care of himself, ate healthy, didn't drink heavily or smoke.  No one in his family has suffered from the same type of cancer and up until right before his diagnosis, he was healthy and active.  Now he can barely walk and he's slowly losing his sense of humor (if you know my dad, you know that his sense of humor and his laugh are contagious).

We really need your help.  Our dad is our hero and our biggest supporter.  This is only a mere fraction of what we can do to help give back to him what he has given us.  We thank you in advance for your support and your love.
