Mom's Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
The passing of my mother has been very hard on my family.  We have always been very humble and had our fair share of hardships and financial struggles. My mother was a very hard working woman, and the day she was forced to retire due to her arthritis was very hard on her, she was a very proud woman and she wanted to keep working.  It was also very hard on my family financially, as she has always been the top income provider in our home. A few years later my father also lost his job and by that time he had been diagnosed with Diabetes and his body was too weak to continue to work. My family survived these last few years on my moms Social Security check which wasn't much, but even then she was the main contributor to the homes finances. Now that she is gone, they will have to rely on whatever money my brother and I can contribute, plus my sister's very limited SSI. My father is also very proud and doesn't like asking for money, but I have had to help with buying his Diabetes medicine because for some crazy reason he doesn't qualify for financial help with his medical situation. My sister has special needs as she was born with Downs Syndrome and she also suffers from an enlarged heart, asthma, high blood pressure, and some sort of thyroid condition that I don't fully understand. Her immune system is weak and she gets sick quite often.  On top of all of this the bills continue to pile, including all of mom's hospital and ambulance bills from the last 5 years (and there are plenty).  The funeral, although very modest was over $4000. The van my family drives is also on its last leg and its only a matter of time before it breaks down. I had been unemployed and just barely started working 3 weeks before she passed, it is now the beginning of the month and the rent is due for both me and for them. While Jamie and I were in El Paso we offered up what we could to help my family, but its not enough. I very much intend to help them out as soon as I get on my feet again, but for the mean time I need help helping them. I usually don't ask for help but when it comes to my family, I am not too proud to beg. My family means the world to me, and I must do what I can to help them out, its what my mother would want me to do.  Unfortunately, I can't afford to do it at this time, it will take me a couple months to get on my feet financially before I can offer regular help. Besides the funeral there were alot of other expenses like Jamie's last minute flight and our hotel, food and groceries, gasoline, taxi to the hotel, buying clothes/shoes for moms funeral for myself, Jamie, and my sister, plus the time loss from work for us and my brother, etc. etc. All of this piled up on us and I got back to Seattle without a dime in my pocket, but my concern is for my family. This fundraising effort is on behalf of my family and 100% of it will go to them to help them in this difficult transition. On top of losing the Bright Star of our family the financial burden is a bit much to pile on top of the heartache. If you can help out with anything whether it be $10 or $100 it would help. Those $10 would put gas in my familys van so my brother can get to work and my sister can make her many doctor visits. If you don't have a debit card and you would like to maybe even donate gift cards for Wal Mart so they can get toiletries and groceries that would work as well. Perhaps even a gift card to Sprouts so they can eat healthy as I am trying to teach my family about healthy lifestyle choices as far as what they eat, especially my father and sister. Anything helps no matter how insignificant you think the donation may be, it is all very helpful and very much appreciated. I thank you for even taking the time to read through this, and if you can't afford to help then sending positive vibes or prayers are also gladly accepted. Positive energy is always welcome.

Thank You,

Herman
