Mateo - Retinoblastoma

Welcome to Mateo’s page. Mateo is a beautiful now 2.5 year old boy who is the youngest brother of 3. On Thursday August 16, 2018, our lives were forever changed.  Doctors saw a tumor in Mateo’s right eye and several in the left eye. After receiving the diagnosis of Retinoblastoma, Mateo at 6 months old underwent surgery on Aug 22, 2018 at Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital to remove his right eye and receive laser treatment on the left eye. The journey for our family is a long one.  Mateo has had several treatments and continues to need more treatments as new tumors and challenges appear.

Frequent assessments, tests and scans will be necessary until Mateo is of school age as tumors can commonly reoccur.   Several treatments and operating room visits are needed.  The future is unknown.  

Please help us raise support for our family. The money raised will be used to help cover immediate and long term travel, accommodation and medical expenses.
