Carmens Medical Bills and Living Expense

Carmen Weddel-Bringman, is unfortunately battling leukemia for the second time. She was first diagnosed with acute melonogous leukemia (AML) at the age of 34 in January of 2013. After enduring six months of very invasive chemotherapy, the cancer appeared to be in remission by the summer of 2013. She was told that she was cancer free and in remission at that time, only needing to go in for occasional blood draws to make sure her numbers were progressing and at that she remained cancer free.

     
Then, in April of 2014, Carmen received the devastating news that the cancer had returned. Her AML Leukemia had returned, and she was informed that the only treatment now would be for her to receive a bone marrow transplant.
     
With her sister and brother only being a naturally half brother and sister they would not be a donor match. Carmen was then put into the bone marrow registry where she remained for several weeks hoping to find a donor. Fortunately, with God’s grace two potentially matching donors were located. Carmen is currently in the hospital receiving chemo and will return for the transplant in July for a second stay of three months. The recovery period following the transplant is expected to be lengthy, taking anywhere from six months to a year depending on how she responds to the procedure.

Due to Carmen’s extensive treatment and hospitalization, she is currently unable to work and will remain out of work for a very long time. Because of this, the family's income has been significantly reduced, receiving only a marginal amount from disability. Her medical bills are mounting greatly. Her family helps out as much as possible, but as you can only imagine in times of tragedy it puts a great strain on a family both emotionally and financially. Carmen is wonderful mother of three children: Kayla, Chance and Carson, and worries more about them every day! More than she worries about herself. Cancer of any kind is terrible, and no person or family should have to battle with this disease.
