Woodys Surgery

This is our puppy Woody he is a 7 month old Jackapoo. Woody is the son of our other pet Dottie so we’ve had him since birth and watched him grow into the most gorgeous loving little dog. However yesterday afternoon a terrible and unfortunate accident occurred while being his usual mischievous self and playing with the other dogs Woody fractured his two front paws.

The vets have been very helpful in order to make Woody as comfortable as possible while he waits for his surgery; he needs 2 plates and 6 screws fitted to get him back to his normal self. However this has been estimated at 10.5k all in which unfortunately we don’t have. 

He’s currently staying over night at the Wear Referrals which is the specialist vets in Sedgefield. I’ve had a further update just to let everyone know Woody is doing brilliantly, he is comfortable on strong medication, normal in himself and eating and drinking as he normally would… no surprise he loves his food!!

Up to now he’s had 5 x-rays including 1 on his chest to rule out any further injury but the good news there is his injuries are solely on his paws and no other area so his quality of life won’t be affected after his surgery. 

As many pet owners know vet bills are absolutely extortionate and sometimes the insurance doesn’t cover the full amount and unfortunately this is the predicament in our case. We have already paid £2,650 for his overnight stays, consults and medication, x-rays and something to put towards his surgery. He’ll also need to go back in 6 weeks time so they can see how he’s got on and make sure everything has gone as planned which will be another £500. The money doesn’t matter to us as our pets are our lives but we’ve still got his surgery to pay for and could do with any help we can get it. We are devastated it has had to come to this and ask all you lovely people to help us but this experience has already been so traumatic and heartbreaking enough we just want him back home where he belongs. 

Dottie is already lost without him, as are we so as you can imagine any help at all would be appreciated we just want our fluffy boy back home
