EMT Training

After some nudging and persuading, I have decided to let go of my inhibitions and ask for help...so, here it goes.

For quite a long time, my goal has been to become a firefighter. Last year, I started to pursue my goal and became very discouraged when door after door was shut while searching for a route to achievement. A few months ago, I applied to the Orange County Fire Department for the "pay to train" program and when I felt like I might finally have a chance, yet another door was closed.

Fortunately, the very next day, I got an email from the owner of First Response Training Group in Orlando. I set up an appointment to visit the school and signed up that day. I was finally going to reach my goal! I had saved my tax return money and had acquired enough vacation time to take off from work and still get paid (for a couple of weeks) while in school. 

Because there were so many people interested in the program, they extended the start date a few weeks, which I did not budget for. Aside from that, several other "unforseen expenditures" came about. My plan has not gone exactly as I hoped, but I don't want to give up and I don't feel that I'm supposed to. Between class, studying day and night and trying to still have some time with my son, I just cannot work right now. 

I have 2 more months to go, then if I pass my school, state and national exams, I will be certified as an EMT and ready for hire. In order to complete my training and be able to pay my bills, I will need to come up with $4,000. Taking out a loan is unfortunately not an option, as I do not currently have an income while on LOA from work. To me, this is a lot of money to ask for. Several of my family members and friends suggested that I set up a funding site for donations. I was pretty reluctant to do so because I didn't want to have to ask for financial help. After much consideration and prayer, I feel like I just have to suck it up and ask. If you feel led to donate, THANK YOU!
