I Support Joan - The Veil of Silence

Donation protected

To those I know and love, to those who love and believe in me, and to those I’ve yet to meet ~

This is an ongoing campaign until the goal is reached...

Thanks to all of you I am here in southwest Louisiana with my mom, finally. She is 90 years old now, soon to be 91. I had not seen her in 7 years. I am requesting your support to continue my research and writing so that The Veil of Silence will be published very soon.

Raw and real, transparent and vulnerable, I open my heart to you. I’ve clung to all hope, believing with every fiber of my being, that God would make good on His promises. That June 10, 2014, this day, would come to pass, one day. I’ve waited, and waited, and waited. Days turned into months, and months into years. I watched family and friends travel to the very destination my heart burned to reach. Yet, I could not get there. It was always one thing or another. The finances stood in the way. I wondered would my mom make it? Her siblings passed away. She’s now the eldest. I’ve missed funerals and countless celebrations. I’ve been misunderstood and judged dispassionately. I watched my family experience life. But I watched like a stranger in the distance. Lacking understanding, I felt forgotten. Depression got the best of me many, many times. Yet, I continued to believe. And by faith I endured with determined perseverance.

Wondering why I arrived at this place? Simply put, I said yes to God. I sacrificed all of me. I have been on a journey that unveiled my purpose in life and my true calling as an author, teacher, and speaker. The journey through the wilderness has been long and arduous. But I wouldn’t change a thing. Without the hardships and adversities I would not be who I am today. I am called to lead people out of darkness into wholeness. I encourage, empower, and enrich lives through teaching and speaking.

The second reason for my trip is to continue crafting my first novel, The Veil of Silence. And the third reason is making this dream of publishing this book come true. This is a 1960's epic love story set amongst the overheated beauty and family secrets of Iberia Parish. Writing this story requires a lot of research into the history of my family, the parish, and its culture. .

• Here is an excerpt from an early chapter in the novel, “We were the Bastien’s. We were the Creole cultural milieu of southwest Louisiana. Where fresh water marshes and swamps and tidal bayous ran deep and where secrets were thicker than gumbo’s file. Segregation was on the mend. Or so they said. The Mississippi burned with a vengeance. And across racial lines and religious institutions a clandestine love affair gave way to a child. She was creole. Her name was Geneviève. He was Irish. His name was Father Paul. Yes, he was a Catholic Priest. And I was that child.”

It takes a village to bring a dream to fruition. And I need your assistance in supporting my efforts that include personal traveling expenses, furthering my research, traveling to investigate the locations, helping out my mother while I am there, publishing costs, and other incidentals. No donation is too small or too big. Every dollar is a blessing. Please click the DONATE button above to help me reach my goal.

My Progress thus far…Earlier this year, I incorporated my non-profit organization, Seeds of Faith Ministries joantaylor.org. And last year, I authored and taught my first ebook, Sown to Reap, a biblical study about discovering your purpose in life.

In the cauldron for release this year in paperback and hardback are The Veil of Silence, Hope Abounds, Closed Legs Open Hearts, Saved in a Grace Place, and A Watered Well.

I am currently penning the final chapters of Hope Abounds, a 7 step therapeutic biblical journey of healing and wholeness through the power of God. I’ve had the privilege and honor of teaching and writing this study to two groups of awesome women. But, most importantly I’ve been blessed to watch their lives transformed.

P.S. Follow my journey on Facebook (Joan's Page)  and on website/blog too joantaylor.org!

With Love & Abundant Blessings Joan
