Know Jack - A Boy Fighting Cancer*
*UPDATE from his mom Rebecca - Jack
I hope we can renew the push to the rest of this page's goal to help lighten even a portion of the burden in the days to come.
~
I am raising money for Jack, a nine year-old boy, who has been fighting Neuroblastoma for 2 years now. The initial diagnosis was a "high risk Stage 4." He completed 6 rounds of chemo, surgery, radiation, stem cell
transplant and numerous rounds of antibody therapy. He finished his
treatment summer 2010 and has been enjoying living his life and racing
his quarter midget. As of this past September 2011, 2 spots have appeared on Jack's hips. We received news 10/12/ 2011 it is back-WE FIGHT! WE MUST!
But the treatment is taxing and Jack's recent scans (11/2/11) showed progression of the disease. This time the scans showed
the cancer has spread to his skull, up and throughout his entire spine.
He was also 7 pounds lighter from being sick and not eating.
Jack will be in the hospital 3-5 days because he will be radioactive. He will have to stay in bed and cannot leave it. The bed will have guards up around surrounding his bed and the room is covered in plastic. He will need to stay at CHOP until he urinates enough of the medication out that he will be safe to be around others. He will still be radioactive for at least 3 days after discharge. He cannot be hugged or close contact with his family. He will also have to take SSKI drops every 4 hours for 7 days then once a week for 5 weeks. He will rescan after that 6 weeks. He will need blood work twice a week after that and may need platelet or blood transfusions.
The money raised will go towards helping with gas & travel expense to and from the hospital, as well as with the parent's time off from work in order to support Jack in his fight. Any and all help will be appreciated.
Thank you!
