Support for Asher

Jonathan and I have a newborn nephew who is currently at Children’s Hospital of Georgia/MCG in Augusta. His name is Asher. He was born May 19 in Brunswick with persistent pulmonary hypertension; he could not get blood to his lungs.  He was sent by ambulance to Savannah Memorial at less than 24 hours old. Asher's condition continued to worsen and he was airlifted from Savannah Memorial to Augusta and placed on ECMO (life support) at less than 48 hours old. This treatment required him to have multiple blood transfusions and created a particularly terrifying set back when his heart stopped and he had internal bleeding on his fourth day on the life-saving ECMO.

Asher has shown signs of improvement and was able to come off of ECMO on 5/27. He’s still a very sick baby and needs lots of prayer. The next step will be to wean him off of the ventilator as he can tolerate it.  We are so fortunate that he is making strides in his recovery and look forward to the day when his parents, Matthew and Samantha, can take him home.  

However, Asher's medical expenses for the facility alone at Children's Hospital of Georgia are already over $300,000 as of 5/29.  This does NOT include his neonatologist, surgeon, anesthesiologist, transport, and the bills at Savannah Memorial and Southeast Georgia Health System.  He does have health insurance, but even so, the medical bills are going to be tremendous.

Please consider donating even $1 and passing this link on to anyone or any organization you feel appropriate.  I've started the financial goal at $5,000.  I am sure that will increase as we learn more about Matthew and Samantha's projected out of pocket cost and the bills for the other services and facilities begin to accumulate.  ALL donations will be paid directly to Asher's medical accounts.
